Mainpower North Canterbury Sports Awards 2010 Home :> Events :> Mainpower North Canterbury Sports Awards 2010 The North Canterbury Sport & Recreation Trust is calling for nominations from sports clubs and the general public for its annual Sports Awards to be held on Friday the 29th of October. MainPower New Zealand has renewed its commitment to the event as its major sponsor. The Trust’s chief executive Michael Sharpe says that people don’t have to be elite athletes to be nominated. “The sportsperson could be a stand-out player within a team or club. The awards are also a great way to for clubs to reward volunteers who do so many hours behind the scenes and help to keep the clubs afloat.” He says the awards night has “opened peoples’ eyes” to the wide range of sports and elite sportspeople within the North Canterbury region.
